Are you ready for some PROSSER! A Monday night PARTY!

If you didn't catch on, the title is a little variation of "some Monday Night Football". We didn't do any football but we did do some partying on Monday night! We made cake, or at least Conner and Paige made cake, played card games, danced to 60's music, had a great FHE lesson and pretty much rocked the house. How much more party can you get than that???

The recipe reading has begun! Are you excited Conner???

Who is the repsonsible one here? I could not stop laughing while taking these pictures. Conner is a crack up.

The mixing is ready to begin.

This is the excitement that comes from getting the card you want!

The completed project!

Please tell me your tongue is not in that cake!! Who is your mother anyway???

FYI-his tongue did not touch the cake-I dont think, I hope. He decided to do that just as I took the picture and I had no control. The way my family likes it!

Grandma you crack me up

I read to Grandma from her journal today and laughed my head off. I actually read from a letter that she had sent home to her parents while she attended BYU back in 1937. Her family only had enough money for her to attend one year but she talks about that year like it was the best of her life. The saddest day she can remember was when she found out she could not go back.

Anyway, I was reading a letter and got to the very end. I started to read the next line and could not stop laughing to finish reading the sentence for about a minute. Grandma was on the edge of her seat asking me, "what does it say? What does it say?". I barely squeaked this out before laughing again, "Maj says she is going to put manure in my shoes to see if I will grow some more." (grandma is about 5 feet tall)

The best part of this story was what Grandma did after I read the line. She started laughing so hard she snorted just like a little piglet. I couldn't believe it, I have never heard her laugh like that, EVER!! This caused the two of us to laugh even harder.

It was so great to have that brief moment in time where age did not seperate the two of us. It didn't matter that Grandma was 92 years old and her life was so different than mine currently is. She went through the depression, I have everything I could possibly want and more. She was on a mission in Hawaii when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, I only hear about the war on TV. She lived in a house tent for the first year of her married life, I have never thought of living in a tent for more than about three days while camping. None of this mattered for that brief moment in time. She and I were connected and laughed like two little school girls reading the funniest note they had EVER seen. Reading with Grandma-PRICELESS!!

The weekend partay!

We had a great holiday weekend. I figure if I dont hurry and post pictures then it will never get done. Saturday started out with some basketball with Paige. She is doing amazing. The first part of the game she was a little timid but by the end of the game she was stealing the ball and doing some major rebounding. More than once Ted had to tell me to calm down and chilll out. I would get so into her fast moves that I was a little over the top. I might have to bring a book to read so I'm not so focused on the game.

Then we went up the canyon to Tibblefork Reservoir to do some sledding. It was a great time to watch the kids go flying down the hill. Tye was a crazy boy and wanted to do all the scary jumps. Everytime I would turn around he was up at the top of the hill and jumping on his sled. I would tell him it was too scary for his age and he would say that's what he wanted was "scary". There were a few times he thought he was going to die but no damage was ever done.
Pre-jump

Post-jump

Why the dazed look you ask??? Read on...

Conner decided to go off a jump that was about 4 feet off the ground. I didnt think he would really do it so when I heard Ted yell "That was awesome" I knew he had gone for it. By the time I turned around he was standing at the bottom of the hill dazed. I ran down to him and he kept asking me "What happened mom?, What happened mom?, I don't remember anything!" . He was a little out of it and had blood on his upper lip. Apparently, he took a nose dive after he caught some 5-6 feet of air. He was definately a little shook up about everything but his dad thought it was the coolest thing ever. I pretty much banned anyone else from going off the jump-Tye thought that was an injustice!!

After some sledding we met my parents for a berry sundae at Costco. The kids adore my amazing parents who are always willing to buy them a treat or two or twenty!!! We are definately not lacking in the cool grandparents department.

We have to check out the book table everytime we visit Costco to see what cool books are coming out. So many books so little time!

Let the good times roll! Is that a sucker in your mouth??? Didn't you just eat a berry sundae!!?? How many treats can you get in one hour??? Oh to be young again.

Sunday was a busy day with talks in church and ward conferences to attend but it was still a good day. We visited with my parents about thier trip to Mexico for two weeks. My mom had taken over 600 pictures of the ruins they toured through so we had to see all of the cool spots. We stayed doing this till much too late but had a great time.

Monday came and we decided to go up the canyon again to get out of the awful inversion. This time we did some snowshoeing and had the best time. We spent a lot of time jumping off the trail and sliding down the hill. The kids quickly became addicted to this whole snowshoeing adventure and we were on the mountain for 5 hours!!

Tye kissing the big guns!

The hike up the mountain.

Sliding down the mountain was their favorite part.

Snow angels were pretty rockin' too!!

Our next stop was out to eat with our adorable niece, Amy. We decided to kidnap her so we could spend some time together. She is here attending BYU and we love to see her but don't get to as much as we would like.

In all, it was a great weekend just relaxing and having a lot of laughs together.

Brothers are amazing

I have to make a post on how great Conner has been lately. Today after school he was extremely nice to his younger brother and sister. He had some candy from school and he willingly shared with BOTH siblings. I don't think I ever willingly shared anything I had with my brothers, maybe with the younger one.
He is so great at the piano. I would say every single day he sits down at the piano and plays at least one piece of music. Sometimes it's stuff he needs to practice and sometimes it's not but he does it just the same. When I ask him to practice while he is sitting there he always does, without complaint!!! It is so refreshing to have him just do it. I know this might not last much longer but while it is here I am going to enjoy it.
He also gave an amazing FHE this week about the apostasy. I dont think I could have done any
better and he taught me something I did not know. I was amazed at how well he communicated the information. He was happy because before the lesson he did not know much about the apostasy and now he does-what more could you ask for???
Conner is wonderful!

Sisters are wonderful!

I just have to brag for a minute about Paige. She is the best big sister. Last night Ted and I had to go to a meeting for about 1 hr. We decided to just leave the kids home since we were only 2 mins. away and easily reached on the cell phone. I left Conner and Paige in charge of themselves and Paige in charge of Tye. I think Paige put her mother to shame in the mothering department!
I came home and Tye was in bed. Not only was he in bed but he was asleep!!! I couldn't believe it. I was so happy that he was already in bed because it was past his bedtime. Paige actually read him a bedtime story, which I never do. I was so happy that she had been so nice to him. Maybe I should take some mothering classes from her.

I don't think I was that nice as a sister, actually, I know I wasn't that nice. I tormented my younger brother day in and day out. It's too bad I didn't know then what I know now-I would have been a lot nicer. I regret never showing much kindness to any of my brothers while growing up. I guess it's never too late to be kind!
Thanks for being so great Paige!

Yes, that's exactly what I meant

Today at church Conner told Ted he had some big flakes of skin on his eyebrows. Unfortunately, Ted has a bad case of exzema right on his eyebrow and he doesnt know when he has big flakes just sitting there, so thank goodnes Conner let him know. Ted had just left to go to the bathroom to take care of the flare up when I had the following conversation.

Me: (speaking to Conner and Tye) You know this time right now when they play the music before sacrament meeting starts is a special time where we listen to the music being played and sometimes if we know the words we can say the words in our mind and think about what they mean. (pause so they can reflect on what I say. Think to myself how wonderful it is to have this great teaching moment-aahh, this is what it's all about) Another great thing about this time is the Holy Ghost can talk to you and tell you the things that you need to do(pause again to allow these amazing children to reflect on what I have just said. Oh lovely, the youngest is beginning to say something profound back-I can't wait.......)

Tye: The Holy Ghost can talk to us.......You mean he can tell Dad he needs to take care of his excema!!!

Me: (HUH???) I guess. (so much for profound teaching moments)

Funny things

Conversation with Tye today:

Me: I'm sorry I lost my patience with you this morning when you were putting your shoes on.

Tye: It's ok mom.

Me: Remember being more patient is one of my Goals for the New year?

Tye: Yeah.

Me: I really need to work harder on this.

Tye: Yeah mom, YOU REALLY DO!!!! (walks out of room)

Me: speechless

Not a diet-Lifestyle Change!!!

So tomorrow will be my first day of NOT a diet but a lifestyle change!! I will see how well I do at this. I am embarking on breaking my sugar addiction. Should I even be admitting that I have an addiction??? I am such a sugar freak, it is not funny. After every meal, except breakfast, I have to have something "good" to eat. Now when I say "good" I don't mean healthy good, I mean get a big old butt "good".
I hate to blame my husband for this addiction but I never had a problem like this until after we got married. Growing up we didn't gorge ourselves on junk food-we didn't have junk food. My parents were unintentional healthy eaters(you probably didn't know that existed-it does). We just didn't have junk food everywhere you turned. I didn't know what a fat gram was until I went to college and my roommates chose a food according to the "fat grams" contained in said food.
So, now I have a problem with loving sugar!!! I know, it's so not my hubbies fault. The first step to overcoming addiction is to look it in the eyes(and then eat it!!!). OK so I start this new thing that is supposed to help me get over my sugar addiction, tomorrow. I hope I can make it through this. I LOOOOOOOOOVE my sugar. If I make it through day one I will feel like I did it. I know, I'm setting very low expectations.
I will keep you posted on how this goes, or not, if my change doesn't go so well.

First Saturday of the Year

How did I spend the first Saturday of the Year you ask??? Well, let me tell you-I went snowshoeing for half the morning and loved every minute of it. I went with some friends and we had the best time. It snowed a few inches overnight up at the Pine Hollow Trail head which set the stage for a perfect hike. I was planning on being back by 9:30 but it ended up I wasn't showing my face around the house until after 11:00 a.m.!!! It was amazing.
After a quick shower and lunch we all headed to the movies to see "The Tale of Desperaux". I have not read the whole book yet but C has. He informed us that the book and movie were nothing alike. I reminded him that this usually is the case. It's always a let down to see a movie after reading the book. Hollywood just can't do a book justice. I hate to think of all those movies I've seen and never read the book-I'm missing out on so much!!
I have my Grandma staying with us until January 7th. This has added a completely different spin on our family dynamics. She came two days ago and we have had some good laughs at her comments.
Grandma walked into P's room yesterday while I was helping her tidy it up. She looked around and said, "It's a bit littered in her isn't it?". I think P was in shock that someone had brought out the obvious.

Then yesterday morning T, the husband, was still in bed and Grandma walked into our bedroom. Ted pulled the covers up over his head in hopes that Grandma would not notice him. We just can't have anyone actually knowing that he was still lounging around, in his underpants. I'm pretty sure she thought it was one of the kids playing around and so she was not going to pass up this opportunity to have fun with the grand kids.

Grandma: (In one of those "I'm-going-to-get-you!" Grandma kind of voices-with a huge smile on her face) "Who's under the covers?".

Me: (laughing hysterically) "That's Ted, my husband!!!"

Grandma: OH! (smile disappears immediately, walks out of room)

T: dying of laughter under the blankets!!

Me: peeing my pants on the bedroom floor.

Never a dull moment with Grandma around.

Monumental

I started a blog today!! Can you tell? I never thought this day would come but I have to admit I am excited to have my own blog. For the past year I have checked out all my friends blogs and loved reading them and now I have finally taken the "simple steps" to starting my own blog, monumental it is.
Now that this moment has come I might be a little speechless. I'm not sure what to write and how to write it. Hopefully, this time of "shock" will pass and I can write down something that is worth reading every once and awhile.
My main reason for creating this blog is to write down all of those laughable things that happen in the Prosser family's day to day life.
About 2 weeks ago we had a family night on the topic, "Come what may and love it". The first step to "loving" what happens in life, good or bad, is to learn how to laugh about life. I know I am the first to need this important advice so I hope this blog will help me look for those moments that instead of crying or screaming-I laugh a little.
Here's to a new year and hopefully a better me!!
